The Legacy Series: An Introduction

the Legacy Series, by Leo Blanchette - Orange Man, AO-Maru, Roborg, Webcrawler, Scutter

Branding power — That is what the 3d models of the Legacy Series aim to achieve. What is the Legacy series?

Simply, the Legacy Series is a collection of characters, mascots, and concepts which have become a part of the “Legacy” of many companies, large and small, complementing their branding and marketing. They are established and proven as effective advertising tools, plus a friendly and professional way to reach out to audiences.

As an illustrator, I’ve marketed a series of characters and concepts which have traveled the entire digital earth complementing the branding efforts of businesses, people, websites, and projects everywhere. These characters (pictured above) are all of the mascots which have comprised this special series of “Branding Mascots” now known as the Legacy Series

Now I allowing direct access and use of the models themselves, for those companies and designers who wish to do their own in-house implementation of my Legacy Series concepts / characters.

3d Software and Usage

My 3d software of choice is Blender 3d. All of my mascots and work are produced through this animation / modeling suite.

If you are a company or customer who is interested in using my models directly out of the 3d package, there are some things you will need to know.

For Designers

  • Blender 3d is free and open source. Its a powerful and fully-featured platform for 3d modeling and animation. You will need this to use my models in their native formats / scenes. Download it here: http://www.blender.org/
  • You can export the models from Blender into most popular formats. You can find everything you need here: http://www.blender.org/education-help/quickstart/
  • Some models (such as AO-Maru) were created a few years ago, when I was newer to 3d. While visually they “hit the mark” you may find some modeling/geometry characteristics you disagree with. Feel free to alter these at your will.
  • For more complicated projects involving animation or complex scenes, it may be practical for you to hire an illustrator who works in Blender 3d.

For Companies and Individuals

Some individuals or companies may find it desirable to download my Legacy Series models to save money, or achieve certain and specific outcomes in illustrating and advertising. Please consider the following things before purchasing:

  • If you intend to do your own work and your own 3d rendering, please be aware that this may be like going around the block to cross the street. Although Blender 3d is free, it can be quite complex, so always have in mind the back-up plan of hiring an illustrator. Also, I am available for most help and illustration requests
  • Please remember the End User License Agreement which comes included in the purchase. It can also be found on my websites, LB3D.com, and ClipArtIllustration.com

Thank you for using my work, and making them a part of your Legacy. — Leo Blanchette (LB3D.com, ClipArtIllustration.com)
